I have a Bachelor's degree from St. John's University in Environmental Studies. Through that, I studied a range of subjects including sciences, communications, and history. After graduation, I've worked a variety of roles, gaining experience in everything from management to biological research. In keeping with my Waldorf middle school education, I continue to develop a strong set of skills and a wide range of understanding to succeed in any situation.

Biological Field Technician

National Ecological Observatory Network - Fairbanks, Alaska
•Studied the natural history of Alaska’s flora to determine species in the field using dichotomous keys.
•Navigated to research plots in the Alaskan wilderness using GPS units while carrying packs of equipment.
•Contributed to and maintained the office herbarium for training purposes and archives for future protocols. ​•Conducted protocols for diversity sampling, mammal trapping, and soil sample microbial and nitrogen activity.

Round River Conservation Studies - Patagonia, Chile
•Recorded live sightings and fecal pellet densities of huemul deer during backpacking-based walking transects.
•Surveyed a population of guanaco using a distance sampling methodology through the Chacabuco Valley.
•Participated in baseline plant research in Bernardo O’Higgins National Park for climate change monitoring.
•Conducted point and strip counts of avian populations to determine successes of species reintroduction.
Undergraduate thesis: “Why aren’t they composting?”

•Created a survey examining student’s predispositions and perceptions on food waste and composting.
•Conducted interviews with students to gauge their understanding of composting principles.
•Hosted educational sessions for students on composting as a solution to food waste.

"Climate Communication: changing campus conceptions"

•Designed two methods of communicating climate change, one "classical" and one "tailored" to students.
•Taught two separate classes of student volunteers using the two different methods mentioned above.
•Found an increase in student's perceived ability to fight climate change using the tailored method.
•Concluded that classical, alarmist climate change messaging deters people from engaging with the subject.

ECO AmeriCorps – Outreach and Communications Assistant
September 2019 – May 2020
Lamoille Regional Solid Waste Management District - Morrisville, Vermont
•Created an educational program that taught over 500 students about the importance of recycling in two weeks.
•Managed the volunteer group in assisting the Waste District’s efforts at events and within the community.
•Oversaw social media accounts, wrote articles for the paper, and talked on the radio about the Waste District.
•Participated in monthly volunteer activities and professional trainings with my ECO AmeriCorps cohort.
Morrisville Volunteer Firefighter
September 2019 – May 2020
Town of Morrisville - Morrisville, Vermont
•Remained on-call 24/7 to respond to 911 emergencies in the Morrisville township or surrounding areas.
•Extricated persons from vehicles, assisted EMT and police with medical evacuations and procedures.
•Maintained traffic control during incident remediation, cleared debris from roadways, soaked up spilled oil.
•Regularly inspected firefighting gear, replenished medical supplies, cleaned fire engines and firehouse.
'Reverde' silviculture doctoral research volunteer
June 2018 – August 2018
Puerto Maldonado - Madre de Dios, Peru
•Collected and measured cut biological material, planted trees, and grazed cowsin the research fields.
•Contributed to site maintenance: grew vegetables, constructed a water tower, cut back encoraching jungle.
•Lived in secondary Amazon rainforest with other volunteers under the direction of the doctoral resaerch candidate.
